Theatrical Firearms Courses

The Bare Arms Theatrical Firearms Courses are designed to give performers the competence and the confidence to handle firearms safely in a theatrical setting. Each course is 3 days long, utilises real weaponry and live ammunition, on some of the best civilian ranges in the UK. Our courses are the only courses in the UK to use full-bore live ammunition on real ranges and our instructors are ex-military with front-line combat experience who now work as theatrical armourers and military advisers. Our firearms training courses are designed for actors and performers and have been running since 2017.
Bare Arms has a team of exceptional instructors who have extensive experience in both the military and the film industry and are the best in the business at what they do. On both the Basic and Advanced courses there are a maximum of 8 students with 2 instructors to ensure a good level of one-on-one coaching time as well as a high level of safety. Our primary aim for the courses is to improve firearms safety across the industry in order to reduce preventable accidents and incidents. Each student will finish the course with a solid understanding of the mechanics and handling of firearms, as well as an appreciation for how they need to be utilised in order to maintain safe sets in the UK.
Bare Arms runs live-fire training courses all year-round at The Tunnel range complex in Charmouth Dorset, one of the best shooting centres in the country with the ability to train and shoot indoors regardless of the weather. We have accommodation a short drive away at the fantastically unique Monkton Wyld Court, which serves amazing home cooked vegetarian food of the highest standard and can cater to all kinds of dietary requirements. Additional nights at the start and end of each course is available for those travelling long distances.

We only train professional performers for theatrical purposes, and as such we have joining criteria to ensure that students are of a suitable standard before training commences. The joining criteria can be found below. When booking your first course, please supply us with supporting documents showing that you meet the criteria. For any questions about the criteria please email courses@barearms.co.uk
The Disclosure and Barring Service check is used to obtain a copy of your criminal record to ensure that you not prohibited from handling firearms. For training with live weapons, we require all of our students to have a DBS check under 24 months old from the start date of their first course. If you don’t have an in-date DBS check, you can get one at the link below. It costs £25 and can take up to 14 days to get to you.
Cancellations: As we work in the industry ourselves, we know that work and auditions come up with very little notice. We have a robust cancellation policy that allows anyone to postpone a course to a later date, free of charge, as long as we can fill the space. Due to the demand for training this is usually not a problem. If an earlier course becomes available and you want to swap, we can also do that free of charge. Full terms and conditions are below.
